Nick Schleicher
Houska Gallery
Saint Louis, MO
April 10th - May 23rd, 2020
Increasingly All the Time presents a survey of hyper saturated, iridescent color field paintings and sculptures from Nick Schleicher’s recent exploration into his personal sense of aesthetic and display. Included in the exhibition are several works hung traditionally, as well as multiple hybrid paintings on which additional paintings sit. Through utilitarian function, these combinations challenge the concept of “display” as Schleicher experiments with the potential of paintings as objects and vice versa.
Nick Schleicher (b. 1988, Saint Louis) received a BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2011. Recent solo exhibitions include Monaco (Saint Louis, MO); Grease 3 (Saint Louis, MO); Granite City Art & Design District (Granite City, IL); Hoffman LaChance Contemporary (Saint Louis, MO); and The Millitzer Gallery (Saint Louis, MO). Selected group exhibitions include Julius Caesar (Chicago, IL); The Luminary (Saint Louis, MO); and Aupuni Space (Honolulu, HI). Schleicher currently splits his time living and working between Saint Louis, MO, and Honolulu, HI.
